**Overview:**
The project involved upgrading the electrical system of the Lagoon 46 vessel to enhance the operational time of its electrical loads. The original configuration featured 6x 210Ah 4D AGM batteries, which provided a total usable capacity of 1008Ah/8000Wh. The goal was to increase the energy storage capacity and improve solar charging capabilities while maintaining efficiency and reliability.
**Key Upgrades:**
1. **Solar Power Enhancement:**
- Installed a new 1700W rigid solar array on a custom-designed davit frame.
- Integrated two 150/70 Ve. smart MPPT controllers to optimize solar energy capture and management.
- Retained 4 existing 125W flexible solar panels on the coach roof and bow, resulting in a total solar capacity of 2200W.
2. **Battery Replacement:**
- Replaced the existing AGM batteries with 6x 330Ah Victron Energy Smart Lithium batteries.
- Configured in two separate banks utilizing Victron Energy dual BMS, providing a total capacity of 1980Ah / 25,320Wh, with a usable capacity of 20,256Wh.
- Achieved a significant increase in capacity (12,256Wh) within a smaller footprint.
3. **Inverter and Charger Installation:**
- Reinstalled a Victron Energy 12/3000 Quattro inverter, ensuring proper wiring gauge and overcurrent protection.
- Added a new Victron Energy Skylla IP-65 universal 1+1 70A charger, capable of accepting a wide range of voltage and frequency for diverse cruising environments.
4. **Engine Power Utilization:**
- Installed an Orion XS DC-DC charger to draw power from the port engine’s start battery and stock alternator.
- Added an Arco 225A high-output alternator and Arco Zeus regulator on the starboard engine to enhance energy production.
- Implemented a single high-output alternator due to proximity to the house battery and adding an Orion XSD-DC charger to maintain the starboard engine’s start battery.
5. **Air Conditioning Integration:**
- Installed an additional 12/5000 Quattro inverter to enable air conditioning operation through the battery bank.
- Utilized a programmable AC2 relay to manage the operation of larger air conditioning systems based on battery power availability.
**Outcome:**
This comprehensive upgrade not only increased the vessel's energy storage and solar generation capacity but also provided flexibility in energy usage, particularly for air conditioning. The new system enhances the vessel's operational capabilities, ensuring that the client can enjoy extended cruising with reliable power support.
